The National Association of Care Catering (NACC), National Community Meals week campaign is dedicated to raising the profile of the vital community meals service in the UK, while sending out the strong message that closing the service to saving money would have dire consequences for the nation’s elderly, vulnerable and its communities.
The slogan for this year’s campaign “Any time, Any place, We care” encapsulates the reality that this vital service, whether delivered to the home or through Day Centres and Luncheon Clubs, is about much more than nutrition and hydration. It also serves a greater social role, addressing loneliness, social isolation, and safety and security in the home and community.
In a united effort to drive home the message of the vital importance of this valuable community service the NACC has taken to the road to complete the NACC National Road Relay through every region in England, Wales and Scotland.
The road relay commenced in Cornwall and is due to finish in Scotland on Friday14th November. It stopped off en route in King’s Lynn, the home town of Williams Refrigeration.
Williams’ is a proud supporter of the NACC and was delighted to help proceedings with local Area Sales Manager Mark Todhunter being on hand to welcome the relay car as well as service users from the local community. They were joined by Cllr Barry Ayres, Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council.
It is hoped that the road relay will help to raise the profile of the community meals service in the UK and draw attention to the importance of this vital service.
